South Sea Pearl was easily the most amazing and dramatic collection of the new range from the Gottex designers and this was easily its most stunning item. This bikini may be plain and pure in terms of colour, but it is ornate, original and sumptuous in the way it uses accessory to its advantage. The system of straps you see here are less complex than at first glance, with a set of conventional shoulder straps, a halter neck that affixes to the central brooch, and the third is a simple but visually powerful waist sling that draws the eye into the curve of your midriff. As for the rest of the design, it takes inspiration from its namesake, the islands of the South Seas, where many a pirate tale feeds the imagination of the world. It conjures up an image of a tribal princess or the queen of a group of Amazonian warriors and its pure white colour scheme is that of an angelic Pharaoh. A truly stunning design from Gottex.
