Lanai is a beautiful and subtly detailed design, which looks more like a watercolour painting than a photorealistic print. This is a rather new and different thing in the world of swimwear, as super detailed prints are the norm, providing the fashion equivalent of a high definition digital image. Instead, Lanai wants to capture a certain sense of mystery by using a slightly obscured look that leaves a little more to the imagination. Just like it’s namesake, one of the smaller Hawaiian islands, this swimsuit tried to recreate the spirit of the mist shrouded wilderness or the thick foliage that conceals more than it shows, and creates a true sense of the unknown. This is a simple design at first glance, but it is also one of Gottex’s most interesting and beautiful.
