This pure silk pareo is, like all the Emerald Isle items, one of the most criminally underrated in their collection. Although it uses one colour and is among the most mellow designs of the year, it is also one of the most nuanced. This is what they mean by the phrase "still waters run deep". The pattern here used trompe-l'oeil, the ancient painting technique of adding subtle shadow to create a three dimensional effect, on the sequins and scales that make up the central sunburst pattern. It is hard to tell that it is actually a print and instead look like it might jump off the material at any time.
